Gradually, then suddenly.” You and I are living through a clear societal decline in the Western world, by many metrics, for many reasons; and many may wonder how it came to be this way. Is it all Biden’s fault? Trump’s? The Democrats? The Republicans? Are we still Thanking Obama, seven years later? But Hemingway’s insight helps us understand that the sudden failures all around us must have a long tail behind them, and of course they do.
