When I was growing up, I recall watching a video in high school health class about the dangers of using heroin. A teenager, very straight-laced, was peer-pressured into trying heroin just one time, and it killed him. Therefore, the lesson was, avoid it at all costs, because even one use can end it all. Fast forward to today, and we are losing over 60,000 Americans to just one class of drug – opioids. This trend has been increasing for ten years now, and especially since the pandemic! Drug use and abuse has been with us for a long time, but this crisis is new, and worsening! What’s happening that so many choose to die instead of live in our modern day?
